Carbon Black (CI 77266) delivers a deeper black but raises more concerns. EU regulations permit it in cosmetics, but only as soot meeting the purity required by Regulation (EC) 1223/2009. Waxes: Volume and Texture

- Nylon (Nylon-6 or Nylon-66) — stiffer, giving more visible lengthening. For people with very sensitive eyes it can cause a "scratchy" sensation, especially when the fibers migrate under a contact lens.

Preservatives Around the Eyes

- Phenoxyethanol (up to 1%) — considered the safest preservative for eye-area products. It has a broad spectrum of activity, a low allergenic potential, and remains stable across a pH range of 3–10.
- Parabens (methylparaben, ethylparaben) — despite media controversy, parabens at low concentrations (up to 0.4% individually, up to 0.8% combined) are well studied and rarely cause irritation. The SCCS (Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety) confirms their safety.

More meaningful are labels such as "clinically tested under dermatological supervision on sensitive eyes" that name the research institute.
