Bi-phase removers: why they are the gold standard

This technique minimises mechanical contact and maximises the chemical action of the product:
- Saturate the cotton pad generously — it should be soaked through, not just slightly damp. A dry pad acts like sandpaper on the skin of the eyelids.
- Press it onto the closed eye — gently, without applying pressure.
- Hold for 10-15 seconds — this is the time the oil phase needs to dissolve the pigments and waxes. This step is crucial and most often skipped.
- Slide it downwards in a single motion — from the edge of the lashes towards the cheek. Don't rub back and forth.
- Remove any residue with a fresh pad — repeating with a clean pad is gentler than rubbing intensely with a single one.

Makeup removal and contact lenses
If you wear contact lenses:
- Take out your lenses BEFORE removing makeup — oils and surfactants can penetrate the lens material, causing clouding and irritation.
